The starting points of this project was to experiment with creating a magazine in inspiration from some of my favourite mags. I wanted to explore a range of styles and layouts so I looked a multiple magazines each with a different style such as: CarveMag, Wavelength and Foam Symmetry Mag. It was really inspiring to look deeper into these magazines, looking into their unique layouts and why they have placed images and words where they have. This helped me understand layouts better and how to create an effective page spread- which images will go together, which colour and type font and the use of complementary colour. Carvemag inspired me because of the ability to layout a page with photos which compliment the article and fit into together. They also manage to fit in large bodies of writing into of photos depending on the composition of the image itself. Wavelength Magazine inspired me because of the use of graphic design/ poster type pages which explore colour and illustration. They place an image and then create a design inspired by the shapes, colours and energy go the image which I found very inspiring. Foam Symmetry magazine inspired me because of the use of layering of contrasting images and writing onto of full page spreads. They place two completely different images (different compositions, subject and colour schemes) together and it works really effectively In creating a unique layout. Throughout this project I have learnt how to adapt to different magazines styles as well as exploring different ideas. I learnt how to use Adobe Illustrator and layout to create these pages which I found hard at the Start to get used to however I learnt a lot of techniques which will help me in my future work and possibly my final piece. I have learnt lots about magazines in this project such as: which images to use, which images go together and where to place them, which fonts are most effective and using colour schemes to my advantage to layout a page. I really enjoyed this project, I found it really inspiring and interesting to create magazine layouts. I really enjoyed learning and exploring different magazines styles and creating responses to them in my own creative way- incorporating my unique, individual style. The techniques of using the drawing pen has been both successful and unsuccessful, I created some really interesting designs which have been included in my layouts and enhanced them however it was a very tricky process to create and think of ideas to create. My less successful techniques was working in inspiration from carvemag and using their style as I found it tricky to make interesting as it was quite plain and minimalistic. I found working on the style of wavelength and foam symmetry more effective as they explore more creative and unique techniques. I am really pleased with the work I produced, for the overall outcome i chose the pages that looked most effective and were interesting/ unique. Some of the layouts work so successfully with the images that have been placed together and i'm really happy with the work produced. In the future I would like to develop this project further with inspiration form more different magazines and exploring my own ideas.  I would like to develop my adobe illustrator and indesign skills further because I'm sure there are more techniques I can use to create cool font effects and layouts. If I did this project again I would chose a different magazine from carvemag to create a response to as I didn't feel very inspired when creating a response.
