Filming experiments
Experimenting filming around my garden-
While in self isolation I decided to practise filming on my canon 7d, I have not filmed before is it was good to get used to the settings. I found it difficult to keep the camera still as I didn't have a tripod so the footage came out bit wobbly. I used iMovie to edit the clips together which worked out quite effectively, it was easy to edit on however I will be learning to use adobe premier when back in collage to learn techniques such as colour correction, sound and editing clips together smoothly. I used manual focus which worked well in blurring the background and focusing on the foreground. I am very pleased with how this little short clip has turned out and can't wait to experiment filming surfing. To improve I would use a tripod to make the movement smooth.
Clips from last summer-
These 2 clips were taken last summer when I first found I had an interest in filming, they are very wobbly as I am using a tripod which wasn't very stable and wouldn't pan smoothly as I moved it. The focus also didn't work very effective as I used auto focus which would focus on the correct area. These clips are really effective to see where I can improve and I have learnt a lot from them. It was interesting to try filming out on surfing as it is such as quick paced sport that the camera has to be focused on the perfect point and move smoothly following the surfer quickly. To improve I would use a better tripod and use manual focus.
