These pages a from various articles fro Wavelength surf magazine, I have compiled my favourite pages which inspire me most. Starting from the top (page 1) - this page really inspires me from the insane composition of the image against the text on the left. The overall layout of the page is very effective as well as the use of colour to enhance the text next to the image. They used a sharper font to contrast against the blurred background which makes it easier to read and stand out against the image. Page 2- This double page spread inspires me because of the interesting composition of images across the blank page. It is unique as each image is a different size- none of them lineup however it still work really effectively. The images themselves are very effectively composed and each show a different scene which all follow the similar theme of surfing but emit an eerie lonely atmosphere. The use of positive and negative space is really interesting in making the pictures stand out against the background more prominently. Page 3 and 4 - This double spreads are interesting because they incorporate graphic posters against an image but works really effectively. They use similar colours shown in the image into the poster which contrasts nicely. Both pages use complementary colours which are picked from the image and turned into a poster. I feel inspired by the groovy text and graphic drawings which are very effective in making an article more interesting. Overall I feel very inspired by the multiple unique page layouts in wavelngth and it is something I will try and incorporate into my work- in this project I would like to try and create graphic posters to incorporate into the magazines.
