Callum Morse- Callum Morse is a local surf and seascape photographer from Cornwall who I have always been inspired by. His most common and effective technique is using a slow shutter speed and the movement of the camera to create this unsure effect. He takes various surf related images but i am going to focus on his slow shutter seascape images as shown above. Callum Morse creates a very smooth texture across the frame through his use of long exposure which blurs the seascape horizontally. The pictorial space of this images is deep as they include a foreground, mid ground and background, this creates depth in the image and shows more of a landscape. The main anchor of the image is the foreground where the wave is the darkest as it draws the eye instantly. There is no sense of scale so It is tricky to see the true size of the waves, however the gradual disappearance of the waves behind gives a sense of size. Hiroshi Sugimoto

 Hiroshi Sugimoto- Hiroshi Sugimoto is a well known black and white photographer from Tokyo. He captures highly stylised images and explores ideas and relationships between 'photography and time, art and science, imagination and reality.' Hiroshi main idea is that photos are a way of preserving a moment and picture in time almost like a time machine which is shown in his work. Hiroshi captures different textures throughout his work from rough seascapes to completely smooth speed  blurrs. The pictorial space in his images is shallow as he does not create the illusion on depth as there's is no foreground and background the images are fairly 2d. The sense of scale is very hard to work out as there are no adjacent objects to compare for scale. Magazine- Evaluation- The starting points of this project was to experiment with creating a magazine in inspiration from some of my favourite mags. I wanted to explore a range of styles and layouts so I looked a multiple magazines each with a different style such as: CarveMag, Wavelength and Foam Symmetry Mag. It was really inspiring to look deeper into these magazines, looking into their unique layouts and why they have placed images and words where they have. This helped me understand layouts better and how to create an effective page spread- which images will go together, which colour and type font and the use of complementary colour. Carvemag inspired me because of the ability to layout a page with photos which compliment the article and fit into together. They also manage to fit in large bodies of writing into of photos depending on the composition of the image itself.
