Foam symmetry magazine
Foam symmetry-
Foam symmetry is a surf magazine which explore surf craft, travel and immersive stories. I have complied some of my favourite pages from their magazine (issue 20) which inspire me. The main reason I chose to explore this magazine is because of their creative layouts and beautiful images. Page1, I chose this page because I felt very inspired by their use of handwriting overlapped on pictures, I think this creates a really effective and unique outcome. The layering of images with contrasting colour schemes (black and white and bright colour ) looks really effective and id something I would like to try in my own layouts. They also use contrasting fonts on this page- large handwritten, flows writing next to neat small type font. I find the overall layout of this page very inspiring and is something I would like to explore. Page 2- This page incorporates a composition I haven't seen before so I feel its very unique and inspired me. Here the big image displays a lot of colour and an uncertain subject due to the object emerging out the cloud, this contrasts really effectively against the high quality detailed black and white image of a lineup. It is an unusual colour scheme mix as orange and black and white usually don't go however this seems to work really well. Page 3- I have created a response to this page in my previous work when I first started looking at magazines. It went well however now that my skills and style has developed I think I can create a better response. This page shows another contrasting colour scheme with the complementary colours of orange and blue against black and white which always works really well. This page is my favourite because of the little drawings in the corners- I think this adds that little bit of humour and makes the page more interesting. I haven't seen many magazines do this so thought it was unique and something I would like to try myself. Overall I am really inspired by These page of foam symmetry especially the colour schemes, use of layering images and creative drawings/writing.
